After your arrival at KeflavÃk airport, you will pick-up your rental car and head towards ReykjavÃk where you will spend your first night. Km driven: 50
The amazing natural beauty of the Snæfellsnes peninsula awaits - You will start your day by driving to Borganes, a small town located in the Borgarfjörður fjord. From there you will drive through the lava fields of Eldborgarhraun where you can take a short hike up to the Eldborg crater. You will then proceed to drive along the south coast of the peninsula to Arnarstapi and Hellnar where you can add an optional caving expedition to Vatnshellir cave. After a refreshing stop there you will enter the Snæfellsnes National Park and drive under the Snæfellsjökull glacier. If conditions are good and you are driving a 4x4 car, it is possible to drive up to the glacier's edge and take a walk on the ice cap. You will spend the night in the Snæfellsnes area. Km driven: 235
You will continue your Snæfellsnes peninsula exploration. Now you will head to Stykkishólmur, a small, charming fishing town by the north coast of the peninsula. We highly recommend taking a boat ride out on the bay to observe the amazing wild life of the area. You will even get to taste freshly caught scallops and mussels right on the boat. From Stykkishólmur you will head towards Húsafell. On your way there you will make stops at the beautiful waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. In Húsafell you can also join an optional expedition to the man made ice cave in Langjökull glacier. You will spend the night in the Húsafell area. Km driven: 235
Today you will make your way to the Southern part of Iceland. Drive towards ReykjavÃk and make a turn to Þingvellir National Park, a UNSECO World Heritage Site. There you can witness the effects of the Eurasian and North American continental drift. We highly recommend a snorkeling or diving session in the Silfra fissure for those who are willing and able. There is nothing quite like the experience of snorkeling in the crystal clear waters between two continents. After your stay in Þingvellir you will head to the Geysir geothermal area and check out the spouting hot spring Strokkur before heading to the iconic Gullfoss waterfall. You will spend the night in the Flúðir area. If you are up for it, we recommend a trip to the Secret Lagoon near Flúðir where you can relax and rest tired bones before retiring to your accommodation. Km driven: 245
You will now head to the South coast. Your first scheduled stop will be at Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Take the opportunity to walk behind it for a unique view and some amazing photos. You will then proceed passed the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier to the picturesque waterfall Skógafoss before heading to the abandoned plane wreck at Sólheimasandur black sand beach. A little further east you can see the beautiful basalt columns of Reynisfjara and witness the awe-inspiring power of the North Atlantic ocean pounding on the rocks. You will spend the night in the VÃk area. Km driven: 145
After breakfast you'll head further East. Your first scheduled stop will be at Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. The canyon is very picturesque and has become a quite popular stop among our guests. You will then head to Skaftafell where you can hike to the stunning Svartifoss waterfall and perhaps also to one of the outlet glaciers in the area. Afterwards you can head to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. There you can go for an optional boat ride on the lagoon and sail between the enormous ice bergs that float slowly to the North Atlantic ocean. You can also join a glacier walk on Vatnajökull glacier, Europe's biggest glacier. You will now head back to VÃk where you will spend the night. If you still have energy for more sightseeing you can make an optional stop at the Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon on your way back to VÃk. Km driven: 398
You can start your day by going for an optional glacier hike at Sólheimajökull glacier before heading back towards ReykjavÃk. On your way to ReykjavÃk you can make a stop in the town of Hveragerði and go for a hike to Reykjadalur valley and bathe in the geothermal river running through it. You can also take a detour and visit the famous Blue Lagoon near GrindavÃk. Please note that tickets to the Blue Lagoon are very limited and we recommend booking well in advance. You will spend your final night in ReykjavÃk. Km driven: 185 to 265 depending on itinerary choice.
Departure from KeflavÃk airport and car rental return. Depending on your departure time you can explore ReykjavÃk a little further. Km driven: 50
